Review: Playing by the Rules
Playing by the Rules by Emily Robertson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
***** April's 5 Star Review ***** 5 Dreams and Screams
Payton always had one rule she lived by, no boyfriends until after college. No one seemed to agree with her, even her own mother who had her at age sixteen. Returning to school after an accident that flipped Payton’s world upside down left her feeling out of control. Holding on to her rule seemed to be her only lifeline.
Josh had been letting the past rule his life for too long. Finally being at school, he’d become his own man, and he’d been putting all that behind him. Just when he thought he had it all put together, life got crazy. Not only did his ex-show back up, but Josh also found he couldn’t get Payton Whitmore out of his head.
Once Josh convinces Payton to give him a shot, she’s so closed off that he wonders if it’s even worth it. Josh can tell there’s something special about Payton though, and as soon as he goes all in, he’s ready to show her that some rules are made to be broken.
Playing by the Rules is a heartfelt story about trust, love and overcoming life’s obstacles. Ever since an accident, Payton has been going through the motions. Class, homework, study, and repeat. Lately she’s been forgetting things she normally wouldn’t and headaches have been killing her. Payton trudges on determined not to let it affect her studies. Then she meets Josh. Josh was handsome and seemed to really like her. She had decided long ago that relationships were not for her but felt her heart changing the more time she spent with Josh.
I really loved this book. I laughed and cried throughout the book. Loved Payton’s personality and Josh is such a sweetheart! I enjoyed the part where the author introduced Josh’s family especially his twin. This is also the first book by this author. The author done an amazing job on writing this book and I can’t wait to read about Jackson. The story is good and you will loved it and I’m officially a fan!
